The Revelation to John

Revelation 1:1-8     1 September 2013      Joel Keller

I love the Book of Revelation.  For me, it's a glimpse into the future for us as children of God.  Through this book, God lets us know the rest of the story!  The name of the book is the first thing that jumps out at me.  The Revelation.  I often hear people call this book "Revelations."  It was one revelation, given to the Apostle John on the island of Patmos.  To think that this book was one revelation is incredible to me.  (John must not have had ADHD; there's a lot to follow in this book!)

I am humbled by the truths in verses 4 and 5.  It says, "To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father...."  I am still amazed that He would shed His blood for me.  I know me; I am well aware of my many shortfalls.  He knows me too.  He knew I would need a Savior.  Then comes the humbling part for me.  He made us a kingdom; He made us His priests.  We stand in the gap between God and man.  We are a kingdom of priests.  It's all grace.  I am forever grateful for His grace to me.
